Two new models of gemological stereo microscopes
are added to the MSU product line.

MC-2 is an economy class Russian made stereo microscope for work with polished diamonds and colored stones. The model has Zoom optical head, upper daylight and dark field halogen illumination, and a stoneholder.

1274 ZX VG is a stereo microscope with a trinocular optical head and optional 1/2" PC connectable color CCD camera for the third eyepiece. The microscope is made by VanGuard, USA, and tuned by MSU in order to work with rough diamonds and polished gemstones.

The course book ‘Diamonds. Identification, Grading, Appraisal’ second edition (In Russian) is out of print. The first edition was published in 2003.

Alrosa donates diamonds to MSU Gemological Center

The 7th of December, 2004 Company Alrosa granted a selection of rough diamonds to Gemological Center of Moscow State University. This selection represents a wide range of various shapes, colors and clarities îf gem, neargem, and industrial diamonds.

On the ceremony Alrosa HR director Ildar Sultanov passed the collection to department of geology dean professor Yuri Pusharovsky.

This collection is aimed to be a great help in high education gemological programs, for rough diamond courses, and for rough diamond educational program, developed by MSU Gemological Center for ALROSA specialists. These diamonds will also be used in research programs at MSU department of geology.

This grant is important part of cooperation between ALROSA and Moscow State University.
